Week 5 NFL game predictions

Week 4 was a solid, but not great, week for me. I finished 9-5 with my weekly picks, that brings me to an overall record of 35-24.

I’m okay, but not ecstatic about my season record so far.

New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears

 Winner – Chicago

If you’ve been reading my weekly picks, you’re well aware that I’m HUGE on Drew Brees & Sean Payton this year, but that doesn’t mean I think they’ll win every week. I’m picking Chicago to win at home today.

New England Patriots vs. Cincinnati Bengals

 Winner – New England

With the Bengals coming off of a tough loss against the Browns, this seems like somewhat of a trap-game for New England, but I still think that Brady can get it done on the road. New England wins and advances to 5-0.

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers

 Winner – Green Bay

The Packers have 3 things going in their favor today:

1.)  Aaron Rodgers is their QB.

2.)  They’re playing at Lambeau.

3.)  Megatron isn’t suiting up for action.

Those 3 factors point towards a win for Green Bay.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Indianapolis Colts

 Winner – Seattle

In a battle of sophomore quarterbacks, I’m taking Russell Wilson and the Seahawks to edge out Andrew Luck and the Colts. This isn’t a shot at Luck, though. I think that Luck is playing excellent football. This pick is more so a compliment to Seattle and their stellar defense. Seattle wins a close one.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Miami Dolphins

 Winner – Baltimore

The Dolphins started out the season by winning their first 3 games of the year, but faltered against the Saints on Monday night. Don’t be surprised if this is the start of a small slump by an overachieving Miami team. I’m picking Baltimore to edge out the Dolphins in Miami today.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants

 Winner – Giants

Divisional games are always hard to pick, but I’m going with New York in this one. The teams are a combined 1-7 and the division, as a whole, has a record of 4-12. New York would only be a game out of first place if they win & Dallas loses.  Meaning that a 7-9 or 8-8 team might walk away with the NFC East title this year.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. St. Louis Rams

 Winner – St. Louis

Justin Blackmon is back from his 4-game suspension, but it doesn’t really matter. This should be an easy win for the Rams at home.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tennessee Titans

 Winner – Kansas City

The loss of Jake Locker, who was playing the best football of his professional career, really hurts this team. The offense didn’t have the same spark with Fitzpatrick under center. Couple the Locker injury with how well Andy Reid has the Chiefs playing right now and you have the recipe for a KC victory.

Carolina Panthers vs. Arizona Cardinals

 Winner – Carolina

It should be fun to watch Cam Newton play against a defense that sports Patrick Peterson in their defensive backfield. I foresee Cam having a strong outing against the Cardinals. Carolina sneaks out Arizona by the slimmest of margins and advances to 2-2.

Denver Broncos vs. Dallas Cowboys

 Winner – Denver

Some people have Dallas beating Denver today, but I’m not one of those people. I think Denver will do what they’ve done to every other team this year – dismantle them. Peyton Manning has a remarkable 16 touchdown passes & 0 interceptions. Can Peyton get to 20 touchdowns before he throws his first interception? I think he can and will accomplish that feat today against the Cowboys.

Houston Texans vs. San Francisco 49ers

 Winner – San Francisco

Matt Schaub is desperately trying to prove that he is the quarterback to lead the Texans to the promise land. Unfortunately for Schaub, the 49ers aren’t going to make his life any easier. Schaub struggles again & the Niners get the win at home.

San Diego Chargers vs. Oakland Raiders

 Winner – San Diego

Philip Rivers continues to make his case as one of the top qb’s in the league. His 11 touchdowns are second to only that of Peyton Manning. If the Chargers are able to post 30 points again, they should be able to get out of Oakland with an important division win.

New York Jets vs. Atlanta Falcons

 Winner – Atlanta

The Falcons are better than their 1-3 record and the Jets are worse than their 2-2 record. Basically, I’m trying to say Matty Ice and the Falcons will leave the game with the W.
